Things I learnt from High School

Here is a list of things that I learnt from High School/ during my years at High School.

  • Your parents are usually right.
  • Don't worry about the small things, that spot you had on Monday? People won't notice and if they do, they will forget by Tuesday.
  • People will talk. Rumours will fly around, they might be about you but don't let them get to you. People will forget about the rumours over time, just smile and face it.
  • Things will change. You won't stay friends with the same people throughout school.
  • No matter what happens, when you finish school, it probably won't matter.
  • It passes by so fast and before you know it you're leaving school and going into the real world.
  • The value of self-love and care.
  • How to avoid unnecessary drama.
  • How to tell my Mum the things that I have done, even the worst things.
  • Honesty is key, with friends and parents and everyone in general.
  • Don't change who you are just to fit in with a certain group- cliques disappear when you finish school anyway.
  • The benefits of unplugging from social media sometimes.
  • Be nice to everyone that deserves it.
  • Don't cause trouble just for the sake of it.
  • Even if you're right, some teachers will insist that you aren't (one of my teachers was a pain in the ass for this.)
  • Life happens and there's nothing you can do about it, just go with it.
  • Coming across as confident will really help.
  • Being brave will help a lot.
  • Just because other people are doing it, doesn't mean you should/ have to.
  • Standing up for yourself is important.
  • And lastly, the people from high school won't be around forever, they grow up.
