Easy Salt Dough Decorations | Festive Friday!

This is the first post in a series (if you will) that I'm doing called Festive Friday. Every Friday. including Christmas Day, there will be a post with something festive!
Today, I'm going to be showing you how to make salt dough decorations, this is the quick method, there are methods that take 3 hours in the oven but these took 3 minutes in the microwave! These were really fun to make and I had Sunniva with me to help (and put me to shame with my decorations because hers were so much better.)
WARNING: harmful to animals if they eat them.

Things needed:

  • Bowl
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Microwaveable Plate
  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 1/2 Water
  • 1 Cup Plain Flour
  • Paint
  • Paint Brushes (Or make up brushes as we used due to lack of paintbrushes)

I will just say that mine look terrible as I'm not good at painting or many arty things so the ones that Sunniva did look better. Also, due to me not being all that arty, we had no paintbrushes so we decided to use make up brushes because they are similar (Right?)
Also, conversions to grams and things can be found on Google.

Measure out all the ingredients

Pour them all into a mixing bowl

Add the water gradually, stirring as you add it

Mix it all together

Knead the dough

Put some flour on the (clean) worktop

Place the dough down

Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough

Use cookie cutters to get the shapes!

Place them all onto a microwaveable plate

Get your paint brushes (or old make up brushes) ready!

Get the paint ready

Dip your paintbrush into paint,

And begin painting!

Here are some that we did:
